Today's open hypermedia systems (OHS) provide middleware services for a range of hypertext applications. However, con guration and adaptation to speci c applications' requirements is a tedious task. Research has been conducted into further splitting hypermedia middleware systems up into sets of interacting components that can be combined, extended and con gured dynamically. These componentbased open hypermedia systems (CB-OHS) allow for better adaptability, con gurability and also interoperability amongst hypermedia middleware
